The recent lockdown can be very lonely for many, and it is especially important that those who are more isolated have access to technology in order to communicate with others and access vital services such as online food shopping. That's why CAN volunteers are continuing over the lockdown to provide support for older and more vulnerable community members in Tower Hamlets in a COVID secure way, as part of the government's exemption for support groups.

We make sure our sessions are covid secure by maintaining a 2m distance between participants and volunteers, making sure everyone wears a mask, and using hand sanitiser and disinfectant spray any time that devices change hands.

These sessions are helping to ensure that fewer people are digitally excluded and providing much needed support through a difficult time. As one staff member commented at a session "That may be the only conversation [a participant] has all week".
